Swimming
The crystal clear waters of Moosehead Lake offer
enjoyable swimming opportunities. There are three public beaches
that are easily accessed from downtown Greenville.
|
Greenville Junction:
The beach in Greenville Junction has picnic tables
and a play area for children. There is a wharf for fishing, plus
boat launch facilities.
Directions: From downtown Greenville take Route 15 (Pritham
Avenue) north for 1.3 miles. Go under the railroad trestle, bear
right, and then take a sharp right into the Junction Wharf area.
|
Lily Bay State Park:
The State Park has one of the nicest beaches on
the entire lake. It is a wide sandy beach with a picnic area, a
wide expanse of lawn, and a play area for children. The park charges
a nominal day use fee.
Directions: From downtown Greenville go north on the Lily
Bay Road for about 8 miles. You will see the park entrance on your
left.
|
Town Beach by Masonic Temple:
This is a nice sandy beach for children. In the
summer, the Greenville Recreation Department offers swimming lessons
and a lifeguard is on duty. There is a set of rafts for children
to jump off.
Directions: From downtown Greenville go north on Route 15
(Pritham Avenue) for .6 miles. Park in the Masonic Temple parking
lot on the right, shortly after the Mobil station.
