Car & Ice Racing
For a fun family spectator event, check out the West
Cove Ice Racing Association. This event started in 1999 with a small
group of local enthusiasts racing in a single four-cylinder car
category. It has expanded to become a highly popular local event.
Every Saturday from late January until March, an assortment of novelty
racecars and trucks with special studded tires gathers in the Greenville
Junction West Cove for an afternoon of racing. A quarter-mile oval
track is plowed on the ice. A concession stand offers the usual
spectator sport fare. Racing events include 8/12 valve, 16 valve,
6 cylinder, and rear wheel drive cars; mini pickup trucks; and youth
categories.
In the summer on Saturday afternoons, Bullwinkle's Raceway (in Greenville Junction turn left on Industrial Park Road) provides great entertainment with a gravel raceway. Racing events include Big Enduro, Little Enduro, Super Sport, Pickup Trucks, and youth categories. There are also some novelty races, such as Boats on Trailers, Tractor Trailer Cabs, and Anything Goes! See Events Calendar for schedule.
