    Snofest Winter Programs
    The 100-Mile Sled Dog Race Committee and The Appalachian Mountain Club will be bringing a full weekend of programming at the Community Center February 9th and 10th to work in concert with the Race. Programs will start at 1 pm in the afternoon with “Snow Tracking” workshop with Bob Metcalfe, and “Wilderness and Spirit, A Mountain Called Katahdin, by filmsbyhuey.com, Huey, among others. The concessions will be provided by the Maine Chapter of the AMC and on Sunday with a x-c ski race for kids.

    Snofest
    Proof that locals do not hibernate once the snow arrives. The Moosehead Lake Region's yearly celebration winter motorized and non-motorized activities. This year's events include: the 100-Mile Sled Dog Race, Chili & Chowder Cook off, Family Fun Snowmobile Day, 4th Annual Chocolate Festival, Bonfire & Snowmobile Parade, Family Skate Party and much more.

    100-Mile Sled Dog Race
    The official kick-off to the Moosehead Lake Region's annual Snofest Celebration. Mushers along with their canine friends make the 100-Mile journey, starting at the east cove of Moosehead Lake traveling to Brownville and back. Be sure to arrive to the Moosehead Lake Region early and meet the mushers and wish the luck on their trip. Many viewing areas along the route. The race will be starting at 9:00 am, with the starting point at the Maine Inland Fisheries & Wildlife Office on Village St., Greenville.     American Legion Pancake Breakfast
    The American Legion Post #94 will be having one of their delicious pancake breakfasts. The breakfast will consist of pancakes, french toast, bacon, sausage, eggs, home fries, freshly made donuts, juice, milk & coffee. Menu is subject to change.

    2008 Great Backyard Bird Count
    Make plans today to participate in the 2008 Great Backyard Bird Count, which will be taking place on "Presidents Day" weekend February 15 - 18, 2008. Count birds at as many places and as many days as you can! Just keep a seperate list of counts for each day and/or location. Help count the birds of the Moosehead Lake Region.

    Snofest Chili & Chowder Cook off
    An event of the Moosehead Lake Region's yearly celebration on Snofest. The Moosehead Riders are hosting their Annual Chili & Chowder Cook off. Seven different local restaurants will vie for the coveted Best Chili or Best Chowder honors and bragging rights for 2008. Great desserts will be served with the meal and keep warm wil hot cups of coffee. Make plans for you and your family to attend this tasty event and place your votes on the BEST Chili & Chowder!

    Snofest Bonfire & Snowmobile Parade
    An event of the Moosehead Lake Region's yearly celebration of Snofest. The Moosehead Riders will be hosting their Annual Huge Bonefire in the East Cove of Moosehead Lake will be taking place 6:00 PM. At the bonfire, get warm and enjoy hot chocolate iwth your friends. A Snowmobile Parade will start at the bonfire and go to the Ice Races on the West Cove of Moosehead Lake.

    Snofest Guided Snowmobile Ride
    An event of the Moosehead Lake Region's yearly celebration of Snofest. The Moosehead Riders Snowmobile Club is hosting their Snofest Guided Snowmobile Ride. A great day of outdoor fun, with a guided tour of lakes and mountains, BBQ on an area ponds. Be to the Moosehead Riders Clubhouse by 9:00 AM. Bring a camera and enjoy some of the best mountain riding in the state of Maine. The ride will return to Prong Pond for a special Cookout sometime around noontime. After the cookout,and afternoon ride will be offered, if requested.

    4th Annual Chocolate Festival
    A decilious annual event hosted by the Moosehead Lake Region Chamber of Commerce. Choose a dozen samples from a selection of 30 Delectable Chocolate Delights, including: candies, truffles, cakes, puddings, and a chocolate fountain. There will be a Children's Festival along with Silent and Chinese Auction of item that were generously donation by members of the Moosehead Lake Region Chamber of Commerce.

    Kokadjo - Kids Sled-A-Bration
    The first Annual Kokadjo Kids Sled-a-bration will be taking place on Thursday, February 20th, 2007. Make plans today to bring your family to this afternoon of fun! With Igloo Building at 4:00 PM and a Bonfire at 5:00 PM. There will also be hot chocolate and goodies and a raffle. The money raised from this event will go to the Roach Riders Snowmobile Club & Shaw Public Library's Children's Section.
