All-Terrain Vehicle Riding
The Moosehead ATV Riders is a local club that offers
a well marked trail system up the west side of Moosehead Lake. The
system consists of 43 miles of trails including ITS 88, plus a new
connector trail from the Burnham Pond Road around the back side
of Squaw Mountain to the Brochu Road. Snowmobile ITS 88 from Greenville
Junction to the East Outlet is available for ATV riding from the
time the trails open in May, up until December 15 when the trails
close to snowmobile traffic only. The Big Moose Pond trailhead has
a 5-mile loop, which connects to ITS 88 and offers trailer parking
at the Public Lands on the North Road.
You can park your trailers and ride from the kiosk
on the Dump Road (from Greenville Junction, take Depot Street south,
bear right at the fork toward the Greenville Landfill). There is
also trailer parking available at the Public Lands on the North
Road by Squaw Brook, the Burnham Pond Road by the I-beams, or at
the Public Parking at the East Outlet.
